Summernats keeps on getting hotter!

  • Hailed as “Australia’s biggest horse power party”, the annual Summernats Car Festival took place again this year on the 6th – 9th of January in Canberra. For the fourth consecutive year, FUSION were there -  this time with our mates from Extreme Car Audio in Blacktown.

Over 85,000 people packed into Exhibition Park during the three day event and Glen Lensink, National Sales Manager for FUSION Australia confirmed that it was the biggest crowd he had ever seen there.

Amidst that crowd were FUSION’s regular Sound Off crew, Team Beef, who broke the Australian record, topping in at 156.7 decibels with two FUSION FCW15 subwoofers. You can view the video of the record-breaking attempt here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdzQvAFpuHE

Despite the main attraction of the show remaining on the big V8’s doing burnouts, according to Glen, the show was a huge success for FUSION. “It went really, really well for us and we had a lot of interest. We sold a lot of stuff, especially from the Powerplant series – people here just go crazy for that!”

The craze may have been helped by the presence of Glen’s 2009 Evolution X, which is also fitted out with the best of the Powerplant products. Alongside the promo girls and inflatable aliens for sale, the custom two-tone green over black Evo drew crowds to the stand, with its 180 degree Lamborghini doors, Rota 19x10 inch rims and other impressive mods.

While Glen’s ‘pride and joy’ was at this show with the sole purpose of “looking pretty”, the car has been known on other days to clock an 11.7 second quarter mile and sound off at 145.0 decibels. It has been featured in both Hot 4’s and In Car magazines and has a bright future, especially with Glen’s extensive touring schedule.

Next up for FUSION audio in Australia, is three shows next week… starting with the Big Day Out car show on Australia Day, followed by the Eastern Creek Show & Shine and then Slamfest, come the weekend.
